An order left in TWS after a stop out

Last question for the evening :-)

I always set an order with a stop and mostly a target.

Even after a trade has hit stop or target, I invariably seem to have an order still running. I first noticed this when I turn on NT next day, I either get a "ka-ching" and a figure in green in the PnL, or a figure in red. It appears there was still an order running overnight, but I cannot see where or what it might be.

Then tonight, after a new installation of NT, I noticed in TWS, after a stop out, there was still an order in green that said "working" When I "flattened everything", this order disappeared.

I noticed also in my DOM, TIF was Day. Should this be Gtc?

    cheers,
    Antraman

This remaining order, was it your profit target order submitted with the stop order? You can leave to DAY, I believe that NT submits stops/targets as GTC by default.

      Hi Ray,

In this case it was the target, as the stop was caught. I think, but I can't be sure, in other instances it was a stop left when a target was hit.

When I open a DOM, TIF is set to Day on mine. If I set to Gtc, everything will clear after either a target or stop is reached?

      cheers,

Can you check your IB connections settings?

        - Tools > Account Connections
        - Select your IB connection and press Change
        - Hit next several times until you get to the screen with all the options
        - Is "Local OCO simulation" checked or unchecked?

Sorry for late reply. I went to bed :-)

          OCO is unchecked.

Next time this happens, call IB and reference the order by id and ask them why it was not cancelled. Stops and targets are submitted as OCO orders which IB server's take care of cancelling.
