    Serious issues

I use only raw ZenFire data that I collect on my pc.(Well did up until now)
I had been collecting tick data since the open on Monday without 1 pc crash or restart or even 1 disconnection, all the data was there.
An hour ago at approx 10:15am NY time I got disconnected by the broker.
My internet was not down nothing was wrong whatsoever simply the broker d/c me.
    2 minutes later I was reconnected 10:17am.
However the data I collected has changed.
There was a 6 point fall on the ES during the time it was d/c which was only 2 minutes.
The actual time I got disconnected which I know because I was sitting here watching it.
Was as I said around 10:15 reconnected at 10:17.
However now the previous bar before I got d/c is saying 10:04.
And 24 hours of tick data is missing.
My trace file shows I did a trade before this happened closed at 10:13.
Then it shows the d/c at 10:15 which says

    Hosted.Unmanaged.Callbacks.Alert: connection=1 alertType=3 code=0 msg='Market Data Connection Broken'

And it shows the subsequent reconnection around 10:17.
Yet now my data says the last bar before reconnection was 10:04.
And all data before 09:53am is gone for the previous 24 hours up until 9:59am the previous day.
All this from simply the broker disconnecting me and the market data connection apparently being "Broken" for 2 minutes.
So now my tick data of course is unacceptable to trade from for the day because parts are missing.
My indicators signals are completely different from before and unfit to trade from due to this d/c as the historical data they were running from is now completely out of sync.
Can you tell me how I can stop this happening?
Because if all it takes to mess up my data and indicators and trading is a simple d/c from the broker, then I guess you could say its completely pointless to even use NT and this broker.
I have done the repair of the database, it did not change anything.
There is no way to fix my data now and the whole trading day is ruined.

    Hello Mike32,

Please note that unfortunately NinjaTrader does not dictate when a connection is lost. It operates like a radio receiver in that it receives a signal from your broker and then displays/reports these signals back to you the trader. When a connection is lost, it is the broker's API that determines this and reports this to NinjaTrader which in turn reports this back to the trader.

The common problems that contribute to this are:
    • ISP issues
    • hardware firewall issues changing IP addresses frequently
    • Dynamic ISP address switching the address frequently intraday. Usually this happens once a week but you may want to check with your ISP. If they do change daily, a static IP address may work.
    • With Windows XP SP2, if you have more than 10 open TCPIP socket connections open (10 programs making connections through the internet) windows will randomly shut down some connections
    • Broker servers having problems

Do you have historical data enabled as per your Zen-Fire connection?

What happens if you restart NinjaTrader and create a new ES chart without being connected. Does it display the data after the disconnection?

No I don't have historical data enabled because it is fake.
I only have recording real time data.
And somehow it is still changing things in my database.
The data is gone ever since I got disconnected.
Times are changed, opening of bar times I marked are different.
This is very unreliable, especially to be risking money with.
If it disconnected and then just reconnected, then that's ok.
But the fact it changes all my data, really just is unacceptable.

Can you please verify if 'Store real-time bar date' is enabled at Tools-->Options-->Data-tab.

Were you re-connected automatically or did you re-connect manually?

What time was reflected for the current bar once you got re-connected?

There is a discussion about the storing of real time bar data in another recent thread and we were told it is not needed for Zen Fire by Josh or Ray or one of the longtime NT guys.

            Yes its checked.
I was reconnected automatically and watched the data disappear off my chart before my eyes.
Yes, you are reading that correctly.
The current bar of reconnection time was 10:17am and that is the time I was reconnected in the log and visually as I was watching it.
It is trying to say 13 minutes passed between disconnection and reconnection which it did not.

Did anyone else today get disconnected at this time?
            Around 10:15 NY time?
Rather strange it moved 6 1/4 points 25 ticks in 2 minutes while I was disconnected then tried to make it look like it was 13 minutes.

              eDanny:
That is correct. However Mike32 does not make use of historical data when connecting to Zen-Fire, that is why he has the option enabled. He will save all incoming real-time data, since he does not want to load historical data from the historical data server.

              Mike32:
I am not sure what caused the data to disappear and change. You mentioned 24 hours of data disappeared, but the the last bar changed from 10:15 to 10:04. What historical data for that day did re-appear when you were re-connected?

What is currently displayed in the chart around the time of disconnection?
