The issue is not related to NinjaTrader only. PC resources, market volatility, internet connection and how many resources NinjaTrader requests, all play a role.

NinjaTrader 7 is improved regarding resource management, see the link below under 'General Application Performance'.

I have a very similar problem with NT fetching data thru IQFeed.

It could be the firewall. I had the same frustrating issue. Charts would not load with NT connected to IQFeed. They would just hang in the "loading data..." phase. It all went away after I uninstalled Zone Alarm. Hope this helps.

In my case I am using Comodo, not Zone Alarm. Uninstalling it and running the PC without a firewall seemed to help a bit but, unfortunately, not completely solve the problem.

I'm now still using IQFeed+Comodo+Quotetacker which works great but for NinjaTrader I have to connect to IB for now until this issue is resolved.

NT7 includes an updated API for the IQFeed client released in January 2009, so maybe NT7 will solve the problem when it's released.

This particular issue is almost certainly not the firewall. It appears a certain amount of time into a session of using IQFeed

I have to agree with Dave1992 as I also have noticed that if you leave your connection to IQfeed for very long idle (not loading new symbols), it will "disconnect" even though on the Ninjatrader it still says connected.

I have to manually reconnect (disconnet then connect) in order for it to work properly.

The only question I would like to ask the Ninjatrader staff is: Is there a command that will unfreeze the chart and let you open another one? Its very frustrating having to reboot NT

                Let me know

                  Unfortunately not
