    Wrong chart prices after merging

    Hello,
I have compared two charts; the first one is TF 06-09 and the second one is TF 09-09 which contains merged data since 7/2007. The TF 09-09 includes data from the TF 06-09. The charts look like the same but there are different prices as you can see in the attached file. Why?

    Hello xmms1,

    Thank you for your post.

Please try deleting the data from the 06-09 period and re-merging the data.

It happens again. What is the reason of this? Does NinjaTrader calculate and change the data before merging?

        Hello xmms1,

        Thank you for your reply.

Are there any errors listed in the Log tab of the Control Center?

There are no errors. But I found this in the help:

          * Prior contract data is adjusted since there is always a price difference between the expiring contract and the current front month contract. This is called the "premium" and includes the cost of interest and the dividends of the underlying index.

The formula used to back adjust historical data is as follows:

New price = Old price + (Open price of front month of merge date - Close price of expiring month on the day prior to the merge date)
I don't understand this very much. Is this the possible reason? And how do I switch the adjusting off?

Correct, upon merging data, data will be adjusted because of the price difference. Most likely this is the discrepancy you experience.

Unfortunately it is not possible to disable this function.

However, NinjaTrader 7 will be improved in this regard. Please see the link below under 'New Continuous/Merged Futures Contracts'.
