    error message

    Each time I try and enter a stock ( not in the labeled indices ) in the
    on the fly section and change default to stock and then enter the stock
    where it says TF - it allows me to do it but the error message keeps coming up saying NT has to close error, this message disables the backtest ability of the system....help please

    Hi, please see my screenshot, this is where the instrument would be entered when using the 'OnTheFly' option to select it. If you refer to the TF futures contract, it's already setup and listed under 'Futures'.

      Thanks but on my screen there is no instrument row/cell in the data box - just
      type and value....

        nightcountry, for this to appear, you need to right click on the 'On the fly' entry and then select 'BackTest'. This will give you then the choice to backtest on a custom symbol.

          Ok I was doing that and then a box appears populated by a default setting - its when I click on stock instead of default that the error message appears - just happened again.....I can't enter the symbol unless I click on stock and when I do the error message appears everytime

            When you see the default list in the type box selected just click on it and select 'stock' as type, then enter your symbol in the name box, the default exchange is ok.

              That is the problem because when I click on stock that is when the error message appears....

                  that won't work either...it says the mail failed to send because the target machine actively refused it....

                    Ok, then please send me regular note to support at ninjatrader dot com Attn Bertrand, I'll send how instructions then how to send the log and traces over manually.
