    esignal data & interactive brokers

hi, I have the following setup:

    * esignal data for cme futures realtime price feed
    * interactive brokers for european stocks, futures and order execution

I tried to connect esignal first (connection A) and then IB (connection B) as stated in the manual.

esignal delivers prices for emini futures fine.

my problem is the data feed from IB - how can I tell the chart to access the data delivered by IB and not the data delivered by esignal?

    [edit]
the error message I get when loading chart data is "you are not entitled for this service".

I also tried to choose backup data connection IB for the esignal connection. but this did not help.[/edit]

    Hi,

With your scenario you will receive all datafeed from eSignal and when you submit an order it will be routed to your IB account.

It is not possible to look at IB's data when you are connected to eSignal because they provide all datafeed IB provides as well. And since they are your primary datafeed provider we will only pull their data.

Can you check if you are subscribed to eSignal's Level II service which is market depth. If you aren't, you won't be able to receive data in your charts.

thanks for your fast reply, this makes everythig clear.
so you can only have one data provider at a time?

how did this guy do the comparison?

I dont have level2 quotes subscribed at esignal and therefore I deleted the level2 server in the account connection configuration.

You can have multiple connections, even with different providers. It's just that not all providers provide the same kind of data.

It would have been a better scenario for you if IB did only provide one sort of feed instead of the same ones as eSignal.

As for the video, I think he has 2 different NTs open and is connected to Zen on one and IB on the other.

wouldn't it be a good feature request to be able to specify in the instrument selection which datafeed to use? maybe something before the actual feedcode:

          #1#instrument - gets prices from connection 1
          #2#instrument - gets prices from connection 2

Agreed that would be very great to be able to choose the provider for any instruments!

NT should definitely consider implementing that feature.

            Thanks

              Hi,

Don't think it's possible but will pass it on to development.

                Hi,

I was wondering if I have a primary esignal connection for data and plan to have a Interactive Broker connection to NT for trading (No data feed fromIB) how the symbol mapping will be managed for international stocks.

I recently setup an Australia List of stocks but had to change the symbols as esignal has a "-" in its symbols which is not excepted by NT.

E.g. I assigned symbol "CBAASX" to symbol mapping "CBA-ASX"

I'm wondering how will Interactive Brokers recognize the esignal mapping when I have my primary data connection with esignal but place trades in NT to Interactive Brokers?

Is by any chance esignal mapping the same as IB?

                  David,

Both eSignal and Interactive Brokers will have their own symbol mapping.

This means you can use the appropriate symbol map from eSignal for data, and the appropriate symbol map for Interactive Brokers for orders.

This will all place behind the scene and should need any extra configuration other than inputting the correct value under Instrument Editor--> Misc--> Symbol Map section.

Please review our Help Guide on Editing Instruments for more information:
