For example let's say my initial position is 8 contracts and thus my stop loss is for 8 contracts as well. Let's say I decide to take 2 of those contracts off, leaving 6. Can I have my stop loss decrease to 6 contracts also?

Scaling Out and Stop Loss Question
I'm a discretionary trader so all of my trades and trade management are performed manually, but I'm wondering if, after scaling out of a trade, can I have the stop loss automatically adjust to the number of remaining contracts.
For example let's say my initial position is 8 contracts and thus my stop loss is for 8 contracts as well. Let's say I decide to take 2 of those contracts off, leaving 6. Can I have my stop loss decrease to 6 contracts also?Tags: None

Hello BrandonLG83,
Thank you for your post.
When using an ATM Strategy yes the Stop Loss will adjust when adding or subtracting contracts to your current position.
I have provided a link to a video below that goes over scaling in and out of an Active ATM Strategy.
Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.Christopher J.NinjaTrader Customer Service
