Can't get data for OIH with IB

    Can't get data for OIH with IB

    I added OIH to my instrument list. I put ARCA for exchange, that's what IB says. It says "loading data" and just sits there forever. I'm trying to load 2 days of minute data. Should be fast.

    Any ideas?

    Hello cunparis,

    Thank you for your post.

    Within NinjaTrader please remove OIH from your Instrument list and add it back in with the exchange set to Default as apposed to ARCA.

      In fact I can't get any data on stocks from IB.

      Futures data works fine with Mirus.

      I connect to Mirus first and then IB 2nd. Why can't I get data for stocks? This has worked in the past. Even AAPL doesn't work.

        I did that. It says "loading data" forever.

        AAPL doesn't work either.

        Must be a problem somewhere.

          Hello cunparis,

          Please confirm you are receive data for these instruments within your IB TWS.

          Can you please tell me what version of NinjaTrader you currently have installed by going to Help-->About. If you do not have NinjaTrader 6.5.1000.13 installed please upgrade at the link I have provided below.


          Next please install IB Standalone TWS 895.3 at the link I have provided below.


          Next please reset your instruments by going to Tools-->Options-->Misc. tab-->Reset instruments-->Remove and Add your instruments back into your list.

          Please let me know if the issue persists.

            If I do the reset I'll loose all my instrument lists. That's a real pain I have a lot..

              NT .12 I will get .13 after the close.

              TWS 897.9a

              I was just looking at AAPL and others the other day so something is wrong..

              I'll try restarting TWS..

                When resetting your instruments you will not lose your current instrument list you have created. If you have any custom mapping done within the Instrument Manager these settings will be lost.

                  You must use IB TWS Standalone 895.3 with NinjaTrader 6.5.1000.12 and 6.5.1000.13. Please install the correct version at the link I have provided below and ignore any upgrades that are prompted by IB.

                    Works now that I restarted IB.

                    I had IB running from yesterday, maybe that's why?

                    I think NT should support the latest version of TWS. I like to have the latest version..

                      CRAP! NT got stuck loading apple and I couldn't abort it. Meanwhile I had trades going on in futures. Had to kill Nt with task manager. That sucks. This non-responsiveness of NT is a serious problem that has to be fixed. if I can hit buttons on the DOM then it's too risky to use NT..

                        Hi cunparis,

                        Please rename your database. With this procedure you will need to recreate any ATM Strategies you have saved at this time.

                        To rename the DB:
                        • Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
                        • Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> DB--> NinjaTrader.MDB.
                        • Right click on NinjaTrader.MDB and select "Rename."
                        • Name it "OldNinjaTrader.MDB."
                        • Then restart the software.
                        Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.
