    Please enter a valid instrument

    I'm not sure where to post this, and I'm almost certain it's a data feed problem and not a problem with NinjaTrader, but my broker assures me that we have this historical data, so I'll ask here. I get the following screens when trying to merge historical data, if before February on the contract month, I get the first, otherwise I get the second. This happens on most every instrument but the indices and 30-year treasury notes.

    Please select a valid instrument.

    2.) Do you receive data in the chart GC?

      I'm using Zen-Fire and yes I receive data in the chart.

        Thank you for your reply.

        While I do recieve data (historical and real-time) for CL 11-09, I do not receive data as far back as the 02-09 contract. If you open a chart of 02-09, do you see data?

        Per the historical data, in the case of Zen-Fire this data is provided by NinjaTrader. Zen-Fire does not actually offer historical data, this is a courtesy service provided by NinjaTrader. It is possible that historical data for the instrument is not available back to the 02-09 contract on our servers.

          Okay, I get that, I don't get it in the chart for 02-09 either. But what about merging the historical data for months I do get in the chart? I get that second screen that says there is no data available.

                Please open a chart of the previous contract and confirm that data is loaded. If it is, please try merging the 10-09 in to the 11-09 and let me know if the issue shows there as well.

                  Okay, merging works all the way back until 03-09. I'm not getting those screens like I was yesterday. What would be the reason why I get those so often? Is it because you only provide 6 months worth of data?

                    Thank you for your reply.

                    It looks like historical data for this instrument only goes back to the 03-09 contract. For most instruments, well over a year of data is provided.

                      Alrighty, well most of the ones I have tried go back only 6 months, but I'm glad I know it's not a problem with the data feed or some such.
