    Out Of Memory Error

For some reason, I have recently been getting a "10/23/2009 9:20:22 AM Default Error on loading chart data for 'ES 12-09 Globex': Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown."

BTW - this is Ninja 6.5 not 7.

Any ideas? I do not have any custom indicators. Fairly simple chart that I have duplicated on several other markets.

    Thanks,

    Hello gyoung,

    Thank you for your post.

This message indicates that the system temporarily ran out of available memory. The .NET framework caps all applications at 1 GB. You will need to apply the performance tips listed at the following link: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...rformanceTips1

I appreciate that, but, I'm running same setup since years, just this last release has this issue.
I cannot follow tips, indicators, systems and all my stuff need to run as usual on my "default workspace".
Just to add some idea, maybe this issue is related to zen-fire, which is the only henancements of this release which affects my performances.

P.s. same happens if I try to reload historical data and I'm pretty sure this is not related to my system performance.

Just to know, in case I need to downgrade to the latest "stable" version, do I need to uninstall NT?

          Thanks

            Hi Marcello,

            Thank you for your reply.

1.) In the My Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 > DB folder, right click on NinjaTrader.mdb and select properties. How large is the file reported to be?

2.) If you needed to downgrade, you would uninstall NinjaTrader from the Windows Control Panel in order to reinstall. In that case, you could leave the My Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 folder intact in order to retain your settings.

I have also been running the same setup for quite awhile with no issues and now this error keeps occuring. Something besides my setup and configuration has changed.

                  Kyle,
                  My DB is 396MB.

I have looked at the performance tips and they are somewhat broad in scope.

The only thing I have that is relevant is that I am using a system volume indicator that is not set to calculate on bar close.

Other than that, I see no issues with the other "tips".

                    Hello gyoung,

                    Thank you for your reply.

This is a fairly large database. It is a good practice to try to keep your database under 100 MB in size. When the database exceeds this size, we do occasionally start to see performance issues such as these.

Please rename your database using the steps listed below. This will cause NinjaTrader to create a new database. As such, ATM strategy templates will need to be recreated and historical chart data will need to be reloaded.

                    To rename the DB:
                    • Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
                    • Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> DB--> NinjaTrader.MDB.
                    • Right click on NinjaTrader.MDB and select "Rename."
                    • Name it "NewNinjaTrader.MDB."
                    • Then restart the software.

Will give this a shot and hope for the best.

I've been having the same problems on starting up the last couple of days on v.9. My database is 157 mb and this is a peeve of mine. If I have to start a new database why are my ATM strategies lost??? This never made any sense to me at all. These settings should be separated from the DB but of course they aren't even in NT7.

                          Hello eDanny,

                          Thank you for your post.

1.) Please upgrade to the current version of NinjaTrader (6.5.1000.14) via the following link: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/download_download.htm

2.) ATM strategies are, unfortunately, saved within the database in the current version of NinjaTrader. As such, if you must create a new database, ATM strategies must be recreated as well.

Just to let everyone know for closure, creating a new DB resolved my issue.

Still does not fix the problem with ATM strategies though.
