Workspaces

When I close NinjaTrader and reopen it is there a way to get the various charts to open in the same order that I had them?

For example I may have monthy, weekly, daily, hourly charts. When I reopen a workspace they'll be in the order weekly, monthly, hourly, daily.

I believe if you setup the charts where you want them on the screen, then save the workspace and close NT, when you open NT it will automatically open any workspaces not closed, and place the charts where they were on the desktop in that workspace.

I just tested this again.

I arranged the charts in the exact order I wanted them. I then saved the workspace as "Primary Workspace". Then I shut down NinjaTrader and reopened and the charts appear in random order.

Is there a way around this?

When you are working with workspaces, be sure to look at the top left of the control center to see which workspace you are working with. Workspaces can be challenging for some. I always suggest using "Save as..." rather than just "Save", which makes it a little easier to keep track of what you are doing.

In short, the charts should save in the way you saved them last. I think you may be openning a different workspace.

It just doesn't work for some reason.

I simplified it with just 4 charts to test: 10000, 900, 5000, 500 volume charts in order.

I saved as "Primary Workspace". I closed down and reopened "Primary Workspace". They are now in the order: 900, 5000, 500, 10000.

Control Center says "Primary Workspace" in the upper left corner.

I dread shutting down because every time I do I have to reconfigure it all. Half the time I also have to "reload historical data".

Hello MacAttack,

I suggest to delete the workspace you are currently using. While NinjaTrader is closed, please go to (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5-->workspaces and delete the workspace file in question.

Start NinjaTrader and create a new workspace and check again.

I tried your suggestion a couple times. I tried everything.
I simplified things with just 2 charts: 9000 volume, 900 volume.

I saved as a new workspace, closed the workspace, reopened it and the charts come back in reverse order 900 volume, 9000 volume.

If I have chart, chart, chart, dom, time & sales, it may come back chart, dom, chart, time & sales, chart.

It's always random.

Ok, I see. Do the windows open up at the locations they were saved?

Unfortunately the window sequence in the Windows toolbar will not be saved in a workspace.
