Long and Short Term Same Instrument

Hi NT Forum

I am trading same instrument both on a long term basis and short term basis.

Long Term: 4 hours

Short Term: 1 minute.

I do not use any ATM strategy, just the Chart trading buttoms to enter and stop Loss manually put in.

Normally I exit by "Close" buttom.

How can I avoid to see the long term positions and stops and the short term chart and vice versa for the same instrument?

Thank you for your post.

In this situation I suggest using two SuperDOMs, one for your short term trading and the other for long term trading. You will also need to change the ATM Strategy Selection Mode being used with the steps I have provided below.

• Open two SuperDOMs
• Right mouse click within the first SuperDOM
• Properties
• ATM Strategy selection mode
• Set to "DisplaySelectedAtmStrategyOnly
• Click Ok
• Set the same parameter for your second SuperDOM

Now when using an ATM Strategy you may have seperate strategies running in each SuperDOM and will have the ability to use the Close button to exit each position.

But I can not get it to work.

Is it ok that ATM Strategy choosen in "<None>" for both charts?

Hi Michael,

In order to have two seperate positions running at the same time within one account you will need to use an ATM Strategy for each position.

Hi, Thanks very much for kind answer.

But even if I choose 2 different ATM Strategies for the same instrument and select " DisplaySelectedAtmStrategyOnly" in Chart Trader proporties the intry price and line still shows on the chart which can course the price on the short time frame (1 min) to be compressed if the Long time frame (4 hours) price entry and stops are far away from the price.

This means that it is not pratically to see and trade the short time frame.

What is the solution to this problem?

Unfortunately in this scenario you would be required to use two seperate accounts within NinjaTrader. One for your long term position and one for your short term trading.

Hi Thanks for your reply.

would this effect my broker account or count both NT Systems be "pointing" at the same account and be working at the same time?

Does this mean I need to pay twice for NT?

This would need to be setup a second account with your broker that would share the same username and password. This would not require a second NinjaTrader license key since both accounts would be held at the same broker.

When using two seperate accounts you would have access to each account from within the NinjaTrader accounts drop down window to specify which account you want a specific trade submitted to.
