Adding an index not in the defaults

The 10-Year Treasury Note Index (TNX) from CBOE is not in the default list when trying to open a new chart. This is odd because it's the most widely watched in the world. Anyway, is there a way of adding TNX manually? I tried using the Instrument Manager but no joy.

    Treasury Note

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately the 10 year Treasury Note Index is not included in our list of predefined instruments.

You will need to add this instrument manually, by following the instructions in the link below.

All the information need to create the instrument can be found at the exchange.

    Thanks,

Thanks. I'm not talking about ZN which is the futures contract from CBOT but the index (symbol: TNX, Exhange: CBOE).

I tried doing as you suggested but there is no TNX in the list.

          Hi,

Can you tell me who you have as a datafeed provider? Is it also possible for you to send us screeshots of your set up for the TNX.

You need to take screenshots of the Definitions and Misc tab. In order to do this open up the instrument manager and then highlight the Index in the middle section and click Edit to open up the Instrument Editor. In the editor you need to take the screenshots.
Highlight the window and click ALT+Prnt Scrn to copy. Then compose an email and right click--> Paste to paste the screenshot in.

Send your screenshots to [email protected] and refer to this post. We then will check your settings and see if we can get the Index up and running.

IB is the data provider. Here are the screenshots:

              Interesting,

I just tested the Index with the information you provided and data is coming in the Control Center. Can you check here as well under the 'Last' price.

Otherwise check your log tab and see if there's an error message.

I'm getting a last of 50.38 but nothing in the charts and in the logs it says this:

Historical Market Data Service error message:HMDS query returned no data: TNX@CBOE Trades NoHistoricalData.

It may be an IB issue.

                  Hi,

                  This message is very clear:

                  'TNX@CBOE Trades NoHistoricalData'

It means that with this Index there is no historical data provided and that's why you don't see anything in the chart. It will start build from the moment you open the chart.

Thanks. Yahoo provide historical data for it. Is it possible to be connected to Yahoo and IB at the same time, using IB for my futures data and Yahoo for my index data?

Sorry no. Although you could connect to both the same time, data onyl only would be pulled from IB.
