problem importing data for ESZ8

How do I import data in a ninjatrader format txt file for ESZ8 (dec 08 expiration) ? I am on NT6.5

the file I am importing from is named ES 12-08.txt

The problem I have is that I cannot add the specific contract in Instrument manager .. there is nothing later then 03-09 .... no 12-08 I can choose as expiration to add as a new instrument.

I see there is "ES ##-##" but trying to use that give the same error : "instrument is not supported by repository:

how do you import data later than 03-09 in NT 6.5 ?

Hello qewcool,

While NinjaTrader is closed, please set your PC date temporarily to 2008.

Start NinjaTrader and you should be able to add instruments using the 2008 expiries.

Close NinjaTrader and set you PC date back to the current date. Start NinjaTrader and import the historical data you like.

Thanks that worked. I tried it and added the 4 expiration for 2008.

Will this method work with no problem for 10 years back ie if I put clock back to 2001 to add expiration for 2000 for example.

Why not just include the contract expiration for 20 years back in a patch instead of having to change the clock back ?

I believe this will work for expiries of 10 years back as well.

I will forward your suggestion to our development team and ask them if they can add this to the list of future considerations for the software.
