    Problems Trailing Stops In Chart Trader

    I use chart trader to place my orders and trail stops. I have a lap top computer. For some reason NT is not allowing me to manually trail the stops by pressing the left mouse button and then dragging it with the touch pad. Is this a problem with the latest release which I just installed? I've tried rebooting my computer but the problem persists. Please help!

    Hello maxreturn,

    Thank you for your post.

    I have tested this using a laptop touchpad and was able to modify the Trailing Stop normally.

    Please confirm you are using a click and click method as apposed to a click and drag. Please Left mouse click on the order tag which will change your cursor to a hand-->Move the hand to the new price and Left mouse click again.

    Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

      Hello Christopher. I did left click on the order tag and for a brief moment a hand did show up but disappears very quickly before I can move it to the desired location. It seems curious to me that this happened right after I installed the latest update.

        Please follow the steps listed below to uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader. With this procedure you will not lose any Workspaces, Charts, etc.
        • Close all running applications.
        • Then from the Start menu select --> Control Panel --> Add and Remove Programs.
        • From Add and Remove Programs select NinjaTrader 6.5 and click Remove.
        • Then you will need to clear your internet browser cache and history.
        • You will clear this from within your internet browser (with IE, Tools-->Options, delete cookies and files, clear history).
        • Reboot your machine.
        • Once these steps are completed, download NT6.5 from the link below:
          Download
        Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

              Yes I do. I tried testing this too and it does not work either. After numerous attempts with both my touch pad mouse and plug in mouse I found that on limited occasions I can move the stop after the first click but then I have to move it and click on the second time within milliseconds. Otherwise the hand will disappear and the stop will not move at all. It seems very curious to me that this problem occurred only after I updated to the most recent version.

                Please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with 'ATTN: Christopher - 292311' in the subject line.

                In the message, please include the following:
                1.) A link to this forum thread.

                2.) Your most current trace file.
                You will find the trace file in the My Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 > Trace folder.
                The file will be named 'trace.YYYYMMDD.txt' (where YYYYMMDD is the most recent date available).
