    Having trouble accessing imported data

    Hi guys,

    I have just successfully uploaded a couple of years of tick data for natural gas into the Historical Data Manager. I have verified that the accurate data is in the historical data manager by hitting "edit" and then looking in the the NG 3-10 contract within the Historical . . . .

    When I try to load a chart I get a blank screen. When I try to run a backtest I get the old corrupted data that I had previously. Please help.

    Hello tradertrader,

    Can you please create the chart again while not connected to any data feed. Check if data is reflected as expected.

    If not, please check what session template is used in the chart.

    In addition, how much days of historical tick data do you load in the chart? Does it make a difference if you reduce the amount of historical data upon creating the chart?

      Continued problem with imported data

      Thank you so much for helping me with this issue. I continue to have issues, regardless of whether I am connected to a live feed.

      I can see the imported data (I now have it stored as NG 01-10) in the "imported historical data" section. So that is positive because I know that Ninjatrader has successfully imported the data in both tick, minute, and daily form.

      I am trying to get the data from the imported data manager to a place where I can use it for backtesting, charts, etc.

      This is where my problem lies: when I go to the instrument manager and move NG 01-10 over to my default instrument list, it moves over the same old corrupted data that I've been trying to replace all along. I am getting very frustrated with this.

      Do I have to export the imported data from the imported historical data list to somewhere else in Ninjatrader in order to do backtests and get it onto the instrument manager etc.?

        There is no need to export the data once you imported it. It should display the data as reflected in the Historical Data manager.

        Now that the NG 01-10 is listed on your default instrument list can you perform the import once more. Check if the data is reflected when you subsequently create a new chart.

        If the issue remains, could you please post a part of the historical data you imported, so I can test it on my end.

          I re-imported, and still have the issue. Here is a few minutes of data from the Historical data manager. This is the data that I would like to appear everywhere else. One thing that I should mention is that I am importing all 2008-2009 of natural gas tick data into one symbol NG 01-10.

            found a temporary fix

            Hello,

            I found a temporary fix by following the instructions of Bertrand from another post. I imported it as NG ##-## and it seems to work properly.

            YAy!

            I am quite happy with this result.

            Is the tick-level data present now in this file? Could I test tick-by tick data from this file so long as it was just over the period of say 30 minutes? Or would I need to re-import a smaller file for one day or an even shorter period of time?

              Yes, I believe you imported the historical data as tick data, correct?

              If so, you should be able to request historical tick data for the NG ##-##.
