Connection to broker lost

Hello,

I use NinjaTrader with a simulated account with Rosenthal Collins Group using patsystems. The connection seems to be stable. If I unplug the network cable for a while and than get the network connection back NinjaTrader hold the connection to the broker. No problem.

But every 24h my internet provider cuts the internet connection. After a reconnect to the internet I get a new IP address. After getting the new IP address the connection to my broker is lost.

Is it possible to configure NinjaTrader so that the connection to the broker is hold regardless with IP address is used? This is really very import for me.

Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately this is not possible. A connection state between NinjaTrader and your broker/market data vendor is not dictated by NinjaTrader.

is there a broker technology (e. g. zenfire or trading technologies) that avoid this problem?

Hi,

I do not know of any particular technologies that would avoid this issue as each of them will reset the connection once a day. You would need to manually reconnect after this if you are unable to automatically reconnect due to the ISP IP address.

Hello Ryan,

the TWS from IB doesn't have that problem. After a reconnect to the internet with a new IP address the TWS holds the connection to IB. Only NinjaTrader lost the connection to patssystem.

The biggest problem is that a reconnection with NinjaTrader is not possible. Even a manual reconnection is not possible. I have to shut down and restart NinjaTrader when using patsystems.

With these problems it's not possible to trade automatically using NinjaTrader. Do you have any ideas how I can get a stable connection using NinjaTrader?

I'm testing Ninja trader with Zen-fire...
I'm using automate strategy and have exactly the same problem then you.

My stupid Internet provider close connexion sometimes...

So like you I have to stop strategies , shutdown Ninja etc...

But I found a little trick...

After the connexion lost , do nothing in Ninjatrader

open a cmd window
Type :

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

It will recreate connexions and Ninjatrader will reconnect...

Sometimes you must do it 2 or 3 times , but you keeps your strategies ON
