Volume Chart Question

    Volume Chart Question

    Hi,

    Hope you can help with this. Please see attached chart. Why does it show gaps in the data flow for minutes at a time. Sometimes the chart will display corectly when refreshed other times not.

    This is really bugging me so any advice appreciated.

      Data provider is Barchart.

        Hello,

        Sorry for the delay in my response but I was testing the issue with my connection of BarChart.

        I am not seeing the same behavior so can you please disconnect from BarChart and then go to Tools-->Historical Data-->Delete and then remove the data for the ES 06-10 contract.

        Then please go to Tools-->Options-->Misc-->Repair DB. Once you repaired the DB please reconnect and recreate a chart for the ES 06-10.

          That seems to have sorted it. Any advice on how to avoid this happening in the future would be appreciated.

            Hi,

            To prevent this in the future I would make sure that your PC clock is synced so that it is receiving real-time data most accurately related to the BarChart servers. It is not necessary to do this all of the time, but every so often should suffice.

            You can sync your PC clock by double clicking on the clock in the lower right corner of your desktop. Once you have done that, click on Internet Time tab and then click Update. Your PC clock should now be updated.

              Hi Ryan,

              I have done all the things you have advised and that has sorted the problem out for a short time but unfortunately I am finding the same thing happening over and over again during a session even after clearing the history and repairing the database before the open.

              Can you help me with how to troubleshoot this please.

                Hi Mark,

                I have seen this issue earlier with other users today. What is occurring is a known issue with BarChart and volume data spikes. So when the volume spikes it plots a single line for a bar that includes multiple volume bars.

                This is resolved in NinjaTrader 7, and if you send an email to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com we can discuss the issue in greater detail.

                  Is this an issue with the Esignal feed?

                  If not I'll simply change data feeds.

                    Hi,

                    This is only an issue with BarChart, and it is only with NinjaTrader 6.5. If you would like we can put you on beta NinjaTrader 7 to resolve the issue, or you can switch to eSignal with NinjaTrader 6.5.

                      Ah ok.

                      Beta 7 is an option I could be interested in. The question I have before I move over is will indicators that work in 6.5 work in Beta 7 or is this a whole potential world of pain to deal with.

                      Also how beta is it. Is there a date for comercial release yet. Something tells me you may get asked thast a lot.

                        If you would like a beta 7 you can send an email to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com. Include your license key and full name and we'll get beta.

                        There may be some changes with NinjaScript, but many of our NinjaScript Consultants have been using NinjaTrader 7 long enough that the changes to custom code can be quickly made. You can also, refer to the following link.

                        As for a commercial release we do not have a date yet, but we have released 12 beta versions so far.
