rearming question

if on a 3 min bar, an alert fires 2 1/2 minutes into the bar and the rearm setting is set for 90 (seconds), does the rearm 'countdown' continue 60 sec into the new bar or does it start from scratch on that new bar?

The re-arm period should continue from the first instance of the alert, but if you clarify if this alert is a part of a strategy, or indicator we can further test this issue.

Hi,

I tested this using an indicator in the Market Analyzer and the alert sounded with the re-arm period if the alert was still applicable. So this should regardless of when it occurs during a bar.

I'm not sure i understand the result.
Are you saying the unused balance of the rearm period just goes away when the initial bar closed, meaning it begins a brand new test for the applicable condition on the open of the new bar and will alert as soon as they are met with no delay from the unused prior bar rearm period?

Hi,

The re-arm period will scan for the conditions after it has elapsed, regardless of where that occurs within a bar close. So, to go back to your initial example the alert would sound 60 seconds into the new bar to account for the 30 seconds from the previous bar.
