Removing Historic Data for Expired Contracts.

    NT,

Is it OK to remove historic data for expired contracts manually from the db/tick and db/minute folders??

    Thanks,

    Hi rt6176,

    Thank you for your post.

I would recommend against removing the data in that manner but instead remove data by using the Historical Data Manager from the Tools menu.

Is there an option to remove historic data in NT7???

I can't find it. Tabs for everything else.

      I need more info.

        Hi,

Please go to the Edit Tab, and then for the instruments you wish to remove you can right click and then select Delete.

For any of the available sub-menus you can right click and select Delete, as well.

          Following your instructions,

I deleted two expired contracts with their directory trees. Ran repair database.

The files from the sub folders are still there in the folders mentioned in previous post.

What do you suggest I try next??

            Hi,

Although, it is not recommended you can remove the data directly from the folders if you have removed them through the Historical Data Manager already.

When doing this please make sure NinjaTrader is closed.

              WOW!!!

              After manually removing unwanted files.

My backup time went from 8 minutes to 30 seconds.

                Hi,

That's good to hear about the backup time, and I appreciate you letting me know because I can use that information going forward.

Please let us know if there is anything else.
