    Installation issues with Microsoft XP

    I have a Microsoft Windows XP machine - Version 2002 Service pack 3

    When I download and install Ninja I am getting the following error

    "NinjaTrader Application has encounteres a problem and need to close ..." Please report to Microsoft

    How Do i check if I have the latest version of Microsoft.net?

    Is .15 of Ninja the correct version for my machine

    Thank you for your post.

    Please see this link for Minimum system & resource requirements for the proper functioning of NinjaTrader 6.5:


    The latest version of NinjaTrader 6.5 is 6.5.1000.15 & it is recommended that you upgrade if you have not done so already.

    Since you experienced this issues with NinjaTrader having to close, please send us a note to support (at) NinjaTrader (dot) com & include your log & trace files. You can find these in your (My) Documents folder at the path:
    1. NinjaTrader 6.5 > Trace > trace.YYYYMMDD.txt
    2. NinjaTrader 6.5 > Log > log.YYYYMMDD.txt

      So should it work with "Microsoft Windows XP machine - Version 2002 Service pack 3"?

        I had problems with this before for another XP machine and there was a different version of Ninja to download - if I remember correctly?

              Please send us a note to support (at) NinjaTrader (dot) com & include your log & trace files. You can find these in your (My) Documents folder at the path:
              1. NinjaTrader 6.5 > Trace > trace.YYYYMMDD.txt
              2. NinjaTrader 6.5 > Log > log.YYYYMMDD.txt

                I cant get trace files? It happens when I double click and try to launch the application!

                    I encounter the same problem and went to the folders that you mention, and they are empty.

                      Thank you for your post.

                      These “log” & “trace” file folders will be empty until NinjaTrader is able to load.

                        I am having the same issue with XP and ver 6.5. The program installs successfully but will not open. I get the same message that this individual was getting "Ninja Trader Application has encountered a problem and needs to close." The trace and log folders are empty. If you can't start the program how in the world can you expect these folders to log any data? I have plenty of memory and space on this computer so that is not the issue. Please help.

                          Hello sigtrade,

                          I suggest to try an uninstall/re-install of NinjaTrader 6.5. You will save all settings and data.

                          Please uninstall NinjaTrader 6.5 from the Windows Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs.

                          Clear your browser cache (cookies, temporary internet files, etc).

                          Download and install NinjaTrader 6.5.1000.19 from the link below.


                          Let me know if the issue remains.

                            Thank you for the reply Jason. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. My last ditch effort the last time I uninstalled, I went through the registry after the uninstall and deleted all references to NINJA as well as deleting all folders and files elsewhere and reinstalled a "clean" copy. Same results. I'm getting desperate here.
