Problems on import metastock format data

    Hi,
I tried to import metastock data into NT6.5 and NT 7.0 and gave some errors in the log: "Unable to import data for Metastok symbol... Instrument is not supported by repository".

I tried with two Master files data and none didnt work.

Here is the files in zip format.
(BD.zip - Includes Master file and some .dat and .mwd format file)
(BD2.zip - Includes master file and some .dat format file)

    If you can help me.
    I would appreciate.
    tks

      Hi alquimista !

In order to import MetaStock data into NinjaTrader an instrument for that data needs to exist. Unfortunately the use of digits in the symbol name (e.g. '4' in 'TCSL4') is not supported. If there's a possibility to export the data without digit, or create that instrument manually in NinjaTrader, import would work.

      Kind regards,

        Importing Metastock Data

        Hello,

I am trying to import metastock data and I get the following error message:

Unable to import data for MetaStock symbol.....Instrument is not supported in by repository.

I add the symbol name (ZG.LNG) to the instrument manager.

I appreciate any sugestion to make this work.

I am using NT version 7 on a Windows XP machine.

        Thanks.

          Hello,

          Thanks for the note.

What is the name of the file you are trying to import in, can I please get the full name?

Also what instrument is ZG.LNG , a future or a stock?

I look forward to assisting you further.

            Hello,

            Thanks for the response.

The name of the file is ZG.LNG.

The file contains continous EOD data.

            ZG.LNG is a future.

            Thanks

Ah ok, here is our issue.

With futures you need to include the expiry in the file name.

For example if you wanted to import into the ES.

ES 09-11.txt would be the file name you would use.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks. I guess this applies to individual contracts data.

I am trying to import back-adjusted continuous contract data.

                  Hello,

In this case use the ##-## expiry for the continuous contract.
