    Static SuperDOM bugs

    Ninjatrader 6.5.1000.15

    Instrument list doesn't update
I have added new instruments in the default list. However the list doesn't update at all in Static SuperDOM.

So I typed the instrument name directly in the "instrument" input box. I pressed "enter" but nothing was loaded.

    Hello Profitmake,

Can you please create a new SuperDOM via File-->New and check if the instrument drop down list include the newly added instruments.

If not, restart NinjaTrader and check again. Let me know if this will not work for you.

I restarted Ninjatrader a few times to no avail.

Weird that dynamic SuperDOM doesn't share the same problem.

        Hi Profitmake,

This could indicate that the workspace you are using has become corrupted.

As a test, please open a new workspace (File > Workspaces > New Workspace), then add a new DOM there within.

In this new workspace do you see the same behavior?

          The same fate.
I created a new workspace a few times to no avail.

            Hi Profitmake,

So that I may further investigate, please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with 'ATTN: Kyle' in the subject line.

In the message, please include the following:
1.) A link to this forum thread.

2.) Your most current trace file.
You will find the trace file in the My Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 > Trace folder.
The file will be named 'trace.YYYYMMDD.txt'

OK. By the way so it sounds like this is the problem specific to me only, isn't it? Did you test it yourself? Did it work properly on your end?

                Hello Profitmake,

Yes, I have tested on my end and am seeing the expected behavior. Unfortunately, I'm not yet sure what may be occurring on your end.

Thank you for your quick reply. Let me try to figure out what's wrong on my end. I think a reinstallation may help in case of any corruption, or install it in another computer to see if I can duplicate the problem. I will contact you if the problem still persists.

                    Hello Profitmake,

What instruments are you attempting to view in the Static DOM?

Note that it can only be used for futures instruments.

Thanks so much for the pointer.

Stock. Is it the very reason why it doesn't work?
But at least dynamic DOM seems to accept it and shows the stock in the instrument list.

Yes, that's what's happening here. The Dynamic Dom can be used for all trade-able instruments. The Static Dom is for futures only.

I would like to know why static DOM couldn't support other types of instrument. To my knowledge both DOMs are exactly the same except the state of the price rows (static vs dynamic). It seems weird that static DOM is restricted for futures only.

Also I would like to know whether it's normal behaviour if the dynamic DOM can only load top market data (i.e. Level I) of stock. I couldn't see the full 5 rows of bids/asks (i.e. Level II) of stock.

2.) Which data provider are you using for your equities data?
