    counting time bars

I'm new to Ninja. I rely heavily on time counts, time and price ratios. Other than counting individual bars, can you count time bars on Ninja? I am used to a Fibonacci time series drawing tool, but don't see one here.
    Thanks

    Hi Snarfagus29,

Thank you for your post, and welcome to the forum.

You can use the included bar timer, which counts down how much bar time remaining.

If that is not what you are looking for, you can refer to the forum for indicators that may work. One that may work is Bar Numbers.

      bar numbers

bar numbers would do it. so I can see the numbered bars in the post you linked. Not sure how to do that on my own chart.

        Hi,

If you left click on the image of the chart it will ask you if you want to save or Open file. Choose Save.

You will then import the file into NinjaTrader using the steps below.
        • From the Control Center window select the menu File > Utilities > Import NinjaScript to open the Import NinjaScript dialog window
        • Select the file you want to import
        • Press the "Open" button

Then you can add that indicator to a chart like any other indicator.

          Thanks
I followed the steps you said, and a box came up and said that I had added the selected indicator, which is now in mu indicators folder. Now I'm not sure how to apply it. I've selected Bar Numbers in the indicators and hit apply, but I don't see the numbers. What am I missing?

            Hi,

Please make sure that the properties for the indicator are correct. Like if you have a black background the numbers are not set to be black.

Once it is applied you should see that the Bar Numbers indicator is applied because it will be listed in the top left of the chart.

              aha! Thanks a lot.
Now do you want to tackle customizing the Andrew's pitchfork? I am used to putting in parallel warning lines, or lines parallel to the pitchfork at multiple (or sometimes fractional) intervals. Can do?

                Hi,

That is not something you can do with NinjaTrader 6.5, but would be able to do with NinjaTrader 7. There you can define precise locations of where to place your drawing tool.

You would then place lines at the intervals you want in relation to the pitchfork.

I fired up the NT 7.0. The ruler in the drawing tools is everything I need for doing Gann time/price ratios. Renders Bar Numbers all but obsolete for me.

                        Snarfagus29,

The Bar Numbers would begin at the first bar of the chart, which you can modify by specifying how many bars to load from the format data series.
