    Importing Historical Data?

    Hi there,

I'm trying to analyze some data in Ninjatrader, but for some reason I get the error 'Format error in line 57: Input string was not in correct format'. Without sounding moronic I'm assuming this is something to do with the data not being in the correct format, but I've checked the documentation and everything seems to be correct.

    Here is an brief example:
    20100513 152500;4.7;0
    20100513 152500;4.7;0
    20100513 152500;4.7;0

The only thing I can imagine is that because there are multiple values per second (as this data is to 200ms) it is not compatible? Is there a viable workaround?

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Hello Kingwizz,

If there is any issue with the data or formatting, it cannot be seen in the brief segment you posted. I was able to create custom instrument and import those three lines.

One thing to check is that each tick appears on its own line.

I can take another look if you want to post the file you're working with.

Thanks for your prompt reply. The file is 125kb in size. Is there an email address I can send it to?

            Hello Merlina,

            Thank you for your post.

The historical import feature is NinjaTrader is functioning properly. It is not clear yet what the specific issue is with the file “kingwizz” was having. We will review the file & then disseminate our findings.

However, if you are importing historical data into NinjaTrader, the format must adhere to these criteria:

Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions.

Yes, this case was closed. The issue here was that some of the numbers expected for Volume were in decimal format. Kingwizz cleaned up the file and imported successfully.
