    IB always disconnects between 5:30 and 6:30 MEZ

    Hello,

    propably it´s more an IB issue but maybe one has made same experiences. I´m running ninjatrader round the clock with IB. The daily reconect after IB-LockOff is made by a desktop macro with autohotkey.

    Every day between 5:30 and 6:30 MEZ (23:30 00:30 NYT) NT looses the connection to IB several times. I´m quite sure it is not caused by the internet connection or any other local problems.

    What can I do against that? Or has someone the same experiences?

    What you might want to do is to contact your ISP.

    Is this only for NT or also other programs you have running?

    A connection state between NinjaTrader and your broker/market data vendor is not dictated by NinjaTrader. The NinjaTrader application only reports the connection state as it is reported by the API you are connected through. NinjaTrader behaves like a radio receiver in that it receives signals from the connected server. If the signals are not coming through, the underlying broker/market data vendor API reports this to the NinjaTrader application which in turn reports this back to you. Once a loss of connection is reported, NinjaTrader or the underlying API wil continuously try to re-establish a connection.
    Common reasons that contribute to connection stability are:
    • ISP issues
    • Hardware firewall changing IP addresses frequently
    • Dynamic IP addresses changing frequently intraday. Usually this happens once a week buy you may want to check with your ISP. If they do change daily, requesting a static IP address may help.
    • With Windows XP SP2, if you have more than 10 open TCPIP socket connections (10 programs making socket connections through the internet) Windows will randomly shut down some connections
    • Broker/market data servers may be experiencing temporary downtime

      Hello Joerg and NinjaTrader Vincent,
      I have a very similar experience with NT and dodgy IB connections causing Ninja to crash. It regularly happens at 12:00 Noon Western Australia time (Midnight New York Time where I suspect the IB servers are housed). At this time the message in the attachment is displayed and NT closes down and dumps whatever workspace/strategy changes you had made.
      I have also noticed that if you have eSignal connected to IB as a secondary provider (not directly connected to NT) and you force eSignal disconnect by closing the eSignal Data manager it causes NT to crash in the same way as the lost IB connection. This crash is a serious problem and means the NT cannot be left unattended and be trusted to keep working. Throughout these connection up and downs the IB client simply keeps working.

      Also From about 11:45 AM WA time to 12:30pm WA the price connection goes up and down as well causing additional connection lost messages to be displayed. If you get a lot of diconnections you get the staked dialogue messages telling you about the disconnection.

        Hi,

        We don't recommend to leave NT unattended when you have orders working. It's electronics and there's always something that can go wrong. If something happens and you're not behind your computer you can't correct it which can lead to huge losses, especially when there's money involved.

        In addition, make sure you have NT 6.5.1000.15 together with TWS 900 installed. For NT you can check your version under Help--> About.

        Also, make sure you have 'Allow order triggering outside of regular trading hours' enabled in TWS.

          All,

          Another minor point, in IB TWS there is an option to log off at "x" time each day.
          If you have not already, it may pay to investigate this setting in TWS.
