Hi nepenthean,
Sorry, not sure that I follow - Your question pertains to the Simulated Data Feed connection?
-
Yes, I realize kinetick is not necessary for simulation. My issue is while in simulation SI does not actively chart like ES does using the 24/ 7 template.

nepenthean,
Thank you again for the clarification.
1.) It's not actually possible to trade in simulation when using the Kinetick EOD feed. Since the data that the feed displays is delayed.
2.) Yes, the order would show up in a live account.

Yes, I am using the daily data for SI. I can get that no problem. I just wanted to use SI for my simulation, but it will not work. Also, when live, after I place an order, see it filled, shut down, and then restart NT after work, will my order show up on my chart?

Hi nepenthean,
Thanks for the clarification.
With the Kinetick EOD data feed, only daily interval data is available.Due to this, the Session Template won't really be used.
Are you using a daily interval chart for SI?

Thanks for helping me Kyle!
I am presently using the free EOD data.

Hello nepenthean,
Are you using the free Kinetick EOD connection or a full Kinetick connection?
Session templates define during what times data is written to the chart.
For more information about session templates, please see the following link to our Help Guide: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...on_manager.htm

I tried bringing up SI 12-10 in sim mode, but it does not work for me using the 24/7 default template. What is the purpose of the template selection? My data feed right now is through kinetick. Also, during live trading, after I place a trade and shut down, when I reenter NT and select that instrument, will it have the trade marked on the chart after I reconnect to my broker?
Thanks!

Hello nepenthean,
Glad to hear that the Default 24/7 template is working for you.
1.) Can you clarify for me which specific Silver instrument you're looking for and who your data provider is?
2.) It is possible to trade any instrument in simulation.

Ok, so I set the session template to default 24/7 and the simulated ES 09-10 is now charting its way across the screen. Yea! Can you simulate trading in certain instruments only?
Thanks!

Hi.
It says, '<Use instrument settings>'.
Sorry if this is an obtuse question.
Also, if wanted to being up a chart for SI U0, september silver contract, I would type SI 09-10. So this is the convention for futures? The 'call sign' and then the date of the contract? Under what 'instrument settings' cited above would the aforementioned contract be subsumed under?
Thanks!!!

nepenthean,
Thanks for the clarification.
Please right click in your chart and select Data Series.
What is the 'Session Template' property set to?

Thanks for the reply, Kyle.
What I mean is, when I bring up chart trader while using sim101, the chosen instrument does not draw candles on the chart to simulate price action. It is just a blank chart with chart trader off to the side. Sorry if I was not clear.

Hi nepenthean,
Unfortunately, I'm not sure that I follow.
Can you provide an image of the chart?

Hello.
During simulated trading, I can get the DOM populating; but when I bring up chart trader, the instrument chosen is not graphically represented on the chart. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.
