    mmm missing chart action

    Hello,

When I close down ninja trader - so let's take this am as a example.

I closed down at 9:50 am re started everything at 12:00, the chart
just continues from 12:00 but that candle is huge. Looking at tick chart and the time on the last candle prior to shutting everything down was 9:50, everything was fine and in synch. When I opened back up at 12:00
the candle is very large - takes all the action from 9:50 till 12:00 and plots it in one candle. How do I correct this?

When I look at min chart it is fine but I use tick chart.

    thanks,

    Colin

    Hi Colin,

I suspect you are connected to one of our connectivity partners who does not support Historical data. Therefore, during periods of disconnect, you will be missing data.

You can overcome this by additionally connecting to another market data vendor that provides historical data.

    eSignal
    DTNiQ
OpenTick (this is a free service)

are a few that we support.

        Hi Colin:

Let's try this, what happens while you connect back to Open Tick and go to Tools > Historical data > Reload and select your instrument.

Open a new chart and check to make sure your Format Data Series 'Last Date' field is set to today's date.

        Best regards,

Well I found out why this is happening.

Open ticks - tick data has a delay in it. There
          min data does not.

Yes it (tick) is live but anytime you shut your
charts down and re open later it will only back fill
up to the 2 hr delay.

I was told the way to over come this is to
keep charts running 24/7 or never shut down
during market time. Only shut down when
need be during off market hrs.

            Hello:

Your understanding of this feature is correct.

More information on how NT uses historical data to build chart bars and why this can occur can be found here:
