    Better CPU = Faster calculations?

    Hello

can anyone tell me, if there is any sense in buying a better CPU or more RAM to calculate the Optimizing-results in backtesting? And are these parallel calculations, so would it be good to buy a more-core CPU to get the calculations on the different cores?
So in short: will a better hardware improve the speed of backtesting?
I hope you can help me.

    Regards

    Sepp

    Hi MasterSepp,

    Thanks for your post.

Generally speaking, a more powerful CPU and additional RAM should improve the speed of backtests. With that said, the degree to which this will help will vary considerably from system to system.

      Dear Kyle

thank you for your quick reply. Actually, I have 1 GB RAM and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ 2.6 GHz, so I think there is quite a big potential for improval or am I wrong? I know, it depens on with what I'll exchange it, but could you say, that exchanging it with "actual" hardware will improve the calculation speed significantly? A general answer would be sufficient.

      Regards

      Sepp

        Hi MasterSepp,

Unfortunately, it's very hard to say without more information.

Can you give me an example of the hardware you may be upgrading to?

          Hi Kyle

sure, for the beginning I was thinking about upgrading to 4 GB RAM and getting an AMD Phenom II x4 925. Hope, this will help you more.

            Hi MasterSepp,

            Thanks for the clarification.

I can say that this should have an impact on the speed of your backtests.
