Restoring data for one instrument only.

The data for just one of my instruments got overwritten in a bad way.

One chart wasn't updating so I tried to use the reload function to reload just the past 5 days to see if that would help. The application decided to rewrite the entire file all the way back to the begining of the contract erasing all of the other front months.

I have a backup of the data since the last expiry, but I think using it would rewrite all of my other products too meaning I would have to reload the data since June for every instrument instead of just the one that got corrupted.

Is there any way around this?

EDIT: very oddly, this seems to have only affected the daily data for that instrument, the minute data seems to be fine.

    Thank you.

    Hello 8DTK8,

    Thanks for your post.

To confirm, you're using version 6.5, correct? If so, this type of behavior would be expected, unfortunately. With that said, you would not see the same behavior in NT 7.

Can you tell me which data provider you're using? It may be possible to reload the missing data from your data providers servers.

      Hi Kyle.

      I am using IB.

I do have an archive of the old contracts needed to make the continuous chart.

I just wanted to know if there was a way to segment out the old data so that the entire database wouldn't have to be rewritten.

For example, I just need to reload the old 6C daily futures data. Is there any way to extract just that data and import it into my current database so that the others wont be disturbed?

        Hi 8DTK8,

        Thanks for the clarification.

This would not be possible through the restore function. Rather, you'll need to reload the data from IB, then re-merge that data.
