    windows explorer frozen when launching ninjatrader on windows vista

    I had to restart the windows explorer and do it second time, it always happens for the last 2 - 3 weeks... Other programs are ok.

    Start -- then go to the list, - Ninjatrader - frozen, computer is working fine, just the task bar at the bottom is frozen

    I'm not totally sure that I follow, NinjaTrader is frozen or Windows is frozen?

    Are you seeing any error messages? If so, what do they report?

    Which version of NT are you using? (Help > About)

      The windows explorer(the task bar on the bottom of windows vista) frozen when i TRIED to launch NT via Start - click a list of most used program(1 of them is ninjatrader).

      the NT is latest build of 6.5

      i was trying to find out if its related to windows explorer by searching, and disabled all the shell. Problem still exists, and it only happens to NT, so it maybe something to do with NT.

        Unfortunately it is not clear to me what exact issue you experience. Am I correct the Start menu that displays the most used programs remains to be displayed after you click NinjaTrader?

        You state you have to restart the Windows explorer - what exactly do you mean by this? Do you click NinjaTrader for a second time in the list?

        I cannot reproduce such behavior on my end. Can you please check if you have all the latest updates for Windows installed.

          After I clicked the Ninjatrader icon on the list, nothing happens, other opened programs are OK. Just the windows explorer.exe is frozen, which is the task bar on the bottom.

          Do you know what windows explorer is? It is the task bar on the bottom of every single windows OS.

          So since its frozen, the start menu wont work. And i have to keep clicking it to bring up a restart menu. After its restarted, i can start-ninjatrader second time is ok.

          After some testing, it seems the problem is corelated with thinkorswim software, if i start thinkorswim first, ninjatrader second, then windows explorer will be frozen. But sometimes happens, sometimes dont.
          Also another occurance is when i have some kind of flash running from a site, but again it doesn't happen all the time.

            If you remove ToS from the equation and test only with NT, does the issue occur?

              yup, after some testing. NT still frozen the explorer even i started it right after reboot..

                Please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with 'ATTN: Kyle' in the subject line.

                In the message, include the following:

                1.) A link to this forum thread.

                2.) Your most current trace file.
                You will find the trace file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 (or 7) > Trace folder.
                Today's trace file would be named 'trace.20100907.txt'.

                  Anyone able to shed some light into issue?

                  It seems somehow have conflict between NT and windows vista.
