    Dual Account Connections Issue

    Hi,

I have two data providers - Kinetick (realtime) and eSignal. I wish to get futures data from Kinetick and forex data from eSignal. How should I configure the instruments? In what sequence should I connect the datafeeds?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Trader2010a,

    Thank you for your post.

Since both of these data providers offer both types of instruments, the provider you connect to first will provide data for both futures and forex.

The only way to accomplish your goal would be to connect to one provider or the other depending on the data you were looking for.

      Hi Kyle,

      Thanks for the quick response.

My situation is like this: Kinetick is futures only, no forex subscription. eSignal is forex only, no futures subscription.

Is it possible for them to co-exist?

      Thanks.

        Hi Trader2010a,

Unfortunately, this leaves you in the same situation. Since both providers offer both instrument classes, NinjaTrader does not know to 'fail over' to the other provider. The fail over occurs only if a provider does not offer a class of instruments.

For example, I am connected to Zen-Fire (futures only) and to TD Ameritrade (equities and indexes). I request a chart of AAPL. Since Zen-Fire does not offer stock data, the request is passed on to TD Ameritrade.

          Hi Kyle,

I see. However, I am sure that my eSignal subscription do not have futures datafeed (delayed or realtime). So if I connect to eSignal first, then Kinetick, and get futures data, I should be able to do so. Is it correct?

          Thanks.

            Trader2010a,

No - since eSignal offers futures data, the fail-over does not occur. (despite the fact that you are not authorized, eSignal still offers this service)

In order for the fail-over to Kinetick to occur, eSignal would need to not offer futures data.
