live ninja not updating charts

before when i had a free demo of ninja, the control board would display the emini s&p price

but now that i got a live key, it says n/a

how do i resolve this?

well when i was trying the free demo, it was couple hours past emini's close

but i was able to see the last price, bid and ask

just for your information




by the way, i have a question about charts

how do i edit the drawing tools?

for example the thinkness of a line, or the values within a fibonacci tool, etc etc

and there are no channel lines?

can i draw a sloping line and duplicate it with the same angle?

You're welcome - were you trying on the same connectivity provider then (i.e. also TT)?

You can just doubleclick on the drawing tool while it's selected > then you would see it's properties coming up for editing.

You can right click on your trendline > select Copy > and then paste it back in the chart, it would be a parallel one then.

yes i was using the same provider, trading techonogies

when i right clikc on the drawings, it displays the same menu as you would when you clikc on a blank chart...



and also, when i put volume up/down indicator on a chart, it pushes forward one time interval

for example, if i have a 1 min bar, all the bars are displayed on the correct timeline

but if i add a volume indicator, it is pushed forward by 1 min

so say i see the big up bar today with the jobs number, which was at 8:30am est

without the volume, the big up bar is displayed correctly at the right time

but when i add volume, the big up bar is displayed at 8:31 am est

so it pushes the time forward




the funny thing is, i can do the same thing on a 5 min chart

before the volume, the up bar is displayed at 8:30am est

with the volume, it's now displayed at 8:35am est

so whatever time interval i'm using, it adds that time forward

I just tried with the Volume indicators on a ES 09-10 1 min chart here and could unfortunately not reproduce the issue you're seeing, the job report bar ends 8:31 all the time, which is expected as NinjaTrader timestamps bars at their closing time.

For the drawing object properties : please ensure you actually have selected the drawing object (little black markers on it) before right clicking.

ahh that makes sense

did not know the timestamp comes AFTER the close of the bar

with my previous chart software it was at the open of the bar



as for the "right clikc", i can't do it

i can double clikc the drawings but right clikc just brings up the same menu as a regular right click

Ok, you got the drawing object selected - are you right clicking on it then to go the Line Properties?

off topic question

when i place a stop loss order, is that filled at market or limit?

so say i buy the ES at 1000 and my stop is at 999

as soon as the market prints 999 i want OUT at the best price at that time, NOT at a limit price which might not get filled

so is it market or limit?

For Globex on NT 6.5, it's a StopLimit order in the ATM's per default, this can be changed in our next version NT7 to be a Stop Market, too.
