    candlestick overlap

There seems to be a re-occurring theme with NT 7 charts following a holiday: the candlesticks on a chart overlap despite any changes to the bar width or change to the horizontal scale. Please see the attached. One was a current snapshot, then the second and third are with the haxis stretched and compacted. Changing the bar width also has no affect with the overlap.

This happens every time after a holiday. The last time was July 4th weekend (markets were closed on Monday July 5th.)

    Thanks for any help.

    Day Trading Fool,

    Thank you for your post.

I'm not able to cause this to occur on my end. Are there any special steps that I would need to take to do so?

hmm - I do not know. I am using a regular session template and have two series on the chart.

To test it I just pulled up a new chart using a 5 and 15 minute series on TNA. The 15 minute is ok but the 5 minute overlaps.

        Hi Day Trading Fool,

1.) You are using 7.0.0.20, correct? (Help > About)

2.) Which data provider are you using for this data?

          Yes 7.0.0.20.

This has happened in the past for every data provider that I have used (TDA, IB, and IQFeed). I am currently using IQFeed. It is something with the way the chart autoscales the candles. Sometimes it will happen when one series is set to RTH and the second series is set to ETH (e.g., the second series is added without changing the session).

Here is another brand new chart that I pulled up, both using a 5 minute bar.

            Day Trading Fool,

If you remove the indicators from this chart, do you see the same result?

Yes. I took the indicators off one by one and the problem remained.

                Day Trading Fool,

Please provide me with a copy of the workspace you're using.
You'll find that workspace in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Workspaces folder.

                        Day Trading Fool,

                        Thanks for attaching that workspace.

My development team reports that you'll simply need to decrease the width of your bars to overcome this issue.

Bar width can be decreased via the Data Series menu.

Well - that is embarrassing - decreasing the bar width seem to work now.

It looks like there are two factors at play: the horizontal scaling and the bar width. If the horizontal scaling is increased enough, then the bar width has an impact.

But - while creating a new chart, today, the day after a holiday, the bars overlap (the default template is applied which has a candle width of 4). Normally, there is no overlap when I create a new chart.

                            More on the same theme:

If I close NT, and re-open, the chart will appear fine. But when I touch the horizontal scroll bar, the bars go back to overlapping (see attached)

Can you please check what 'Bar width' is used for both data series after you touched the horizontal scroll bar.

Please modify the width to your liking and check if the overlapping persists.
