    TWS,NT7 question

    Hi,
imagine: IB TWS online, NT is connected to interactivebrokers, NT is trading, there are open trades, but then NT hangs, one has to kill the process, but the TWS is still connected. Now you restart NT and insert strategy with true to sync with open positions, does it really work this way? Will this sync with open positions work also at time when TWS goes down? or even after complete restart of the computer? I am just trying to assess risks when going with my ATM strategy live as I do not want to sit there all the time....

    Hello Nicknamed,

Sync is used for NinjaScript automated strategy only. Can you clarify if this scenario relates to NinjaScript or an ATM managed position?

This would apply to a strategy, that is automatically trading.

When you reapply the strategy, the historical strategy execution must match the execution data of your ib position exactly. This is the date / time, price that the execution occurred.

If there is any difference, then it won't "read" the IB position as having been placed by the strategy.

OK, thank you, then it should work for all trades that were previously placed by this strategy and not for any other. right?

Only IBs executions matching exactly with the historical strategy execution will be picked up by the strategy.

            It works like this:
The strategy is run against historical data. If everything remains the same, it should have a strategy position that matches your account position.

The execution information (date/time, price) for the virtual strategy position is compared against the actual execution information reported by IB.

If they match, then your strategy position and account position will be in sync. If you have the option "Immediately submit...", NinjaTrader can then submit exit orders when it receives the signal.

There are a lot of potential behaviors based on the settings used and account/ strategy position. Please see this page, which details the expected behavior for these scenarios:
