    Saving chart annotations

    Hello.

Thanks for answering my questions very quickly. I am impressed.

How do I save charts with my chart annotations, so when I reopen them they look just like I left them after closing down? For example, if I draw trendlines I want them to be there when I reopen.

    Regards

    Hello nepenthean,

    Thank you for your post.

Once you configure your charts (annotations & drawing objects), you can save the chart in a custom workspace. This should preserve your settings for next time you open the workspace/charts. Please see the following for instructions:

    Creating a Chart:

    Navigating a Chart:

    Saving a Default Template
A default template is the chart settings used each time you create a new chart. Once you have a chart set up to your liking, select the menu Templates-->Save As Default from the right mouse click context menu within a chart.

    Saving a Template
    1. Once you have a chart set up to your liking, select the menu Templates-->Save As... from the right mouse click context menu within a chart
    2. The Save as Template dialog window will appear. Give your template a name and press the "OK" button.

    Loading a Template
    1. Select the menu Templates-->Load... from the right mouse click context menu within a chart
    2. Select the template you wish to load from the list of templates and press the "OK" button

    To delete Chart Templates:
    1. Select the menu Templates-->Save As... from the right mouse click context menu within a chart
    2. The Save as Template dialog window will appear, select the template for removal from the list of templates and press the "Remove" button

Thank you for the well organized reply, Chip.

      Here is what I did:

I drew my lines on a chart. I saved the template, exited the chart, saved the workspace, reopened the chart, and loaded the saved template. But my lines were absent.

      Did I miss something?

        Hello nepenthean,

Here are the steps I took which preserved the drawing objects:

        1. Apply drawing objects to chart.
        2. File > Workspace > Save Workspace
        3. File > Workspace > Close Workspace
        4. Select “Save Workspace” option
        5. File > Workspace > Close Workspace

Let me know if you are still unable to save the drawing objects.

        Thank you,

              Hey Chip,

Is there a way I can temporarily remove entry/exit demarcations on the chart? At times, it gets so cluttered I cannot view the price action well.

Also, during simulation mode, I set a profit target, which was met exactly; however my position did not close out. The next session closed out my position at the same price. Please see attached chart. The executions in question are under the cross-hair. Entry at 19.83, exit at 19.85. There is a green bar closing at my exit price which did not trigger the stop. What happened?

              Thanks

                Hello nepenthean,

For the first item please follow the instructions below to disable the plotting of trade executions.
                • Right click in the data series "Properties"
                • Find the "Plot executions" parameter and change the value to "DoNotPlot"
                • Press the "OK" button (see screenshot)

You can find more information on Chart Properties using this link to our Help Guide:

For the second issue, please send us your log & trace files for today.

You can find these in your (My) Documents folder at the file path:
                1. NinjaTrader 7 > Trace > trace.YYYYMMDD.txt
                2. NinjaTrader 7 > Log > log.YYYYMMDD.txt

                (see screenshots for examples)

Just attach these text (.txt) files to your email/response and send it to support AT ninjatrader DOT com

Please also reference this forum thread in your email.
