new software update

i just got a software update message asking me if i wanted to upgrade to a newer version of NT 6.5

1. my question is, should i?
what is the major difference between the new and old versions that i should take note of?

2. if i choose to stay with the old version, would there be any problems in the fuutre?

3. if i do choose to upgrade, is it going to be a stand alone version where i have to uninstall my current version altogether?

Thank you for your post.

Currently, upgrading 6.5 to version 17 is up to your discretion.

We will continue to support version 6.5.1000.16

You can upgrade from version 16 to 17 – you do not need to completely uninstall version 16. You will however want to make sure NinjaTrader 6.5 is closed prior to running the install/upgrade.

so i dont' have to delete this current version?

so all i have to do is just download the new version, run and install it, and all the settings i have on my current version will simply roll over to the new version?

Yes – make sure you close NinjaTrader & you can install over the previous version. You can create a backup your settings prior to this procedure:

Creating a backup archive:
1. Disconnect from all connectivity providers (if connected) and from within the Control Center window select the menu File > Utilities > Backup...
2. The "Backup NinjaTrader" dialog window will appear
3. Select the items you wish to back up
4. Press the "Run Backup" button

To restore a backup archive:
1. From within the Control Center window select the menu File > Utilities > Restore...
2. Select the backup archive to restore from the "Restore" file dialog window
3. Press the "Open" button
