    Adding TSX exchange and stocks.

Hello I just downloaded free ninjatrader 7.0.0.22 and I am struggling to figure out how to add a folder in the instrument manager under default for TSX and then add the Stocks I want in that folder. Then hopefully I be able to play with the charts.

There have been several posts asking similar questions and the common response I read was..... Why not just have the TSX loaded in the first place??? anyways I have wasted a lot of time on this already, and would appreciate your insight, because I have tried this and can not get it to work.

NinjaTrader comes pre-loaded with the most commonly traded instruments however, you may find the need to add an additional instrument. Please follow the instructions below to add an instrument in the Instrument Manager.
From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Instrument Manager
    Press the "New" button
*Enter in instrument specific information and select the appropriate exchange (add Default exchange for equities in addition to the actual exchange)
Fill in any relevant information under the "Misc" tab such as symbol mapping for your target connectivty provider
    Press the "OK" button
    * If you wish to add an equity, this can be accomplished without following the steps above. Just open a chart (for example) and start typing in the symbol and a new instrument is automatically created.

The instrument is now added to the master instrument list. Please follow the instructions below if you want to add this instrument to an instrument list.
Select the instrument list you wish to add the instrument to via the "Instrument lists" drop down list in the upper left hand corner
Select the exchange (Default recommend for equities) as this will route orders to your broker smart routing system
Select the appropriate expiration date if this is a futures instrument
Press the "<" button to add the instrument to the list
You are now complete and can press the "OK" button.

      Hello siggs,

Can you please tell me to what connectivity provider you connect in NinjaTrader. Please provide me an example of an TSX stock, so I can test it on my end.

You can create a new instrument list (you refer to as folder) by clicking New (on the left) in the Instrument Manager.

Subsequently you can add instruments in the instrument list as per the instructions at the link below.

          Hello mike82,

Can you please provide me an example of a TSX instrument for which you do not receive data.

I will test it on my end and once I receive data, I will post screenshots of how I setup the instrument in the Instrument Manager.

Please see the screenshots how to setup the HND. Please make sure you enable the Default exchange as well (I could not include it in the screenshot).

Please configure other Canadian stocks similar. So use C.HNU as symbol map for the HNU stock.

                Does not work

                Hi,

I am in exactly the same situation and steps posted by Jason do not work for me. Or I am missing something. The screenshots are attached. In brief:
                1. New instrument, name HGU, exchange TSX, Canadian Dollar
                2. Symbol mapping: Google = TSE:HGU, Kinetick = C.HGU
                3. "Unknown instrument" using either provider. Google Finance finds it just fine on its own (image attached as well).

                Please help,
                comer

                  Hello comer,

Can you please enable the Tse exchange instead of the Tsx exchange. Click OK.

Remove and re-add the HGU in your instrument list now that it uses different settings.

Click OK in the Instrument Manager.

Create a new chart for the HGU and check if you receive the requested data.

                    It lives!

                    It worked!
Well, Google didn't, but Kinetick (mapping C.HGU) and Yahoo (mapping HGU.TO) worked!
                    Thank you!

Question - when "tsx" should be used insted of "tse" for exchange?

                      Hello comer,

This comes down to the setting that the data provider expects. With Yahoo, that setting can typically be found by simply loading the instrument at the Yahoo Finance site.

I tried all the solutions explained in this thread without any luck!!!!
I just get the error message.
This is my first try with ninjatrader and finding it weird not to have the TSX market by default. This is America!!!!

Anyways, Is there a how to, other than this to add a stock exchange some where?

                        Thanks

                        S

                          Hello Spazio,

Unfortunately you cannot add exchanges in NinjaTrader.

Can you please provide me an example of a stock you like to setup, so I can test it on my end.

Let me know what data feed provider you use as well.

                            Hi

We’re a proud NinjaTrader 3rd party add-on provider and have recently released a unique new product range, the ‘Easy Load’ equities installer for NinjaTrader, which addresses the exact questions raised in this topic (the NinjaTrader press release can be found at http://www.ninjatrader.com/downloads/NinjaTrader_GlobalTradingTools_PressRelease_August _29_2013.pdf )

Our ‘Easy Load’ installers automatically install within NinjaTrader the complete list of all configured stock exchange codes for various exchanges (including Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange) allowing for fast, seamless access to these instruments across multiple supported NinjaTrader datafeed providers.

For the Canadian ‘Easy Load’ TSX installer, all stock codes are automatically installed, fully configured and mapped to work seamlessly with Kinetick free/real time data, Interactive Brokers, eSignal, DTN IQFeed, Barchart and Yahoo free TSX data.
If your current data provider is not listed above please send me a message and we can look to include it.

I realise this topic is a little old now, however just thought I’d mention it if anyone is now after a fully automated solution to all the queries raised in this forum topic.

                            Thanks for your time.
