15 min sma on 5 min chart

Hi, in nt7 how do i plot a 200 sma based on 60 min chart onto a 5 min chart?

    Hello sub5mango,

    Thank you for your note.

This can be accomplished with NinjaTrader 7, please see the attached screenshot, sub5.png, and use the following steps.
    1. From the 5 minute chart, Right Click -> Data Series
    2. Add a second instrument you are using (I'm using ES 12-10 for example). Set this Type to 'Minute' and Value '60' (Blue Square) and set Day to Load to 100 or higher to ensure the 200 SMA has enough bars to build off of
    3. Press 'OK' you're chart will now split the 5 minute and 60 minute Chart.
    4. Next Right click in the 5 minute portion of the chart and select 'Indicators'
    5. Find the 'SMA' and add it by pressing 'New'
    6. Edit the Period to set to 100
    7. Set the Panel to 1 (Orange Square)
    8. Next, select the Input series and select the '...' button (Red Square)
    9. In the Input Series Window select the 60 Minute Close (Green Square) and press 'OK'
    10. Press 'OK' on the Indicators

thanks cameron, done that, but is there a way to only show the "master" panel like in this example the 5 mins, i ask becuase if I do it with 2 tick based panels of different length, I dont get even space between candles and some candles overlap in each panel because the relationship is not exact fit like 5 mins within 60 mins?

        sub5mango,

Both data series need to be on the same chart. With NT 7 you can use the Overlay Scale Justification for the charts.

Please see the attached screen shot, mango.png.
        • Right Click on the chart and select 'Data Series'
        • Select the 60 Min Data Series and set the Panel to 1 (Red square)
        • Press 'OK'

You should now have a chart with the 60 minute bars building behind the 5 minute bars. However, the 60 minute bars may be on top of the 5 minute bars, if that is the case please see the section - How to change the z-order (paint order) of a chart object
        http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt7/navigating_a_chart.htm

Also, from the above link review the section - Understanding panels

Finally, the 2nd screen shot, boxbars.png shows the 60 minute bars changed to box bars, another new feature in NT 7.
