Naming a Strategy

Hi, Would like to know why I can no longer change the name of a strategy to be edited. Use to be able to do this with N6.5 but seems cannot do with NT7. Could this be looked at with any new versions?

Jenny, this would be an expected change for NT7, you would need to select to view the code in the editor and then right click > Save As to create a copy of your existing strategy.

Another problem I see for NT7 is that I can not use "underscore" as part of the naming of strategy I used 'underscore ' in naming strategy with NT6.5 all the time without any problem. I expect NT7 shouldn't change this. right?

millridge, unfortunately also an expected change for NT7 - underscores are not allowed anymore as we ran into issues with allowing those in.

The "underscore" is very useful to make the name of strategy more readable. Is that really difficult to implement? The problem is that I can not type in "_" at "Save as" window, instead I have to use Notepad to type in the name of strategy and copy & paste to "Save as" window to get the name of the strategy. Compiling seems OK. I think it is bug for NT7.

This is unfortunately a known change and limitation for NT7, please have a look at our release notes for it.

Right click -> 'Save As' in NinjaScript Editor didn't restrict naming filenames to numbers and digits.

for users it is possible to copy/paste in filenames with Underscore when doing a "save as" like millridge explained it.
so it is possible to use underscore in strategy-filenames this way.

will this cause problems for Ninjatrader ?

BTW - it is really damned uncomfortable from the reading-aspect without underscores

and uncomfortable means user- unfriendly at the end.

Please help us understand what the problem is with underscores.

Being a technical person myself, I want to understand why I need to change dozens of indicators to this naming format.

I'm sure your explanation will not be to technical for most of the programmers here.
