    IQFeed Symbol Setup

    I'm running IQFeed with NT7.

Last week I set up a bunch of symbols using the Symbol Manager. - ES ##-##, etc... I dumped these into Market Analyzer and can see the prices updating.

This morning - Wed - I wanted to set up Silver and went to the IQF support site to get the correct symbology - SI # or SI ##-##. I already have Gold setup and working - GC ##-##.

When I go to set up SI # the Instrument Manager displays a message that says:

    WARNING

The 'Master Instrument' field only can hold letters and digits and underscore.

    ??

When I look at the Market Analyzer I see:

    6E ##-##
    ES ##-##
    ... ETC,

    All working.

Can someone please tell me if something has changed, or can refresh my memory as to how to set up IQF symbols on NT 7.

I sent an email to NT Support, but no response.

    TIA

    Hello dmking,

The ##-## is the expiry for these instruments. You'll use the letters/ number for the master instrument and then select this for expiry.

      Thanks for the response, Ryan...

Here's what my Market Analyzer looks like,

      6E ##-##
      DX ##-##

      and so forth.

In the Instrument Manager, I thought that I put 6E ##-## as the Master Instrument and 6E in the Symbol Map. This gives me a continuous contract with Mar 11 as the front month.

The only way to get 6E ##-## to show up as the Instrument in the Market Analyzer is to input the Master Instruments as 6E ##-##.

So I'm not sure what you want me to do. What I have above is working for 6E... But now I can't repeat what I did.

Yes, you have to select ## - ## for Expiry. Attached is example of this for ES.

          DOH!!! What a Maroon!

Of Course... It's been a long day... I completely forgot about the Expiry designation, being fixated on 03-11.

          Thanks Ryan, Everything works.
