    Phew crashes when rescaling

    Hey guys,

After phew times with the same crash, I thought to write a post about it.
    I have:
    + last version of NT7
    + free kinetick provider
+ equidistant bar spacing set to False
    + session template: default 24/7

When rescaling the chart (dragging the time axis with the mouse towards right side of the chart), the chart disappears, and a blank white screen appears, with red diagonals.
And a message about a crash, and saying information will be saved in trace file.

I've observed the crash appears in this situation:
    1. scrolling the chart almost to the end, to the last bar in memory (leftmost bar)
The leftmost bar must be outside of the screen, but not too far from the left side of screen.
    2. trying to drag time axis with the mouse, towards right
    3. when the leftmost bar enters the screen, then the crash appears, probably because there are no more bars to be dragged into the screen.

I have attached the trace file zip format.

    Have a nice day and

    Hope this helps you.

    Hello mishhh,

    Thank you for your post.

After reviewing the diagnostic files, I noticed the following error messages:

    2011-01-22 14:13:13:578 in OnUnhandledThreadException
    2011-01-22 14:13:13:609 ********* exception trapped *********
2011-01-22 14:13:13:609 Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.

It is possible that this is coming from a corrupt workspace. Try moving all workspace files out of the default directory and see if that clears up these issues. Here are the instructions:

To temporarily move the workspace (.xml) files,
    1. Close NinjaTrader
    2. locate the NinjaTrader workspace folder (My Documents / NinjaTrader 7 / workspaces)
    3. then select >
    4. cut >
    5. & paste all of these files to a temporary folder (e.g. on your desktop)

Please let me know once you complete this & if you are then able to start the platform and run it without issue.

I moved those files in workspaces folder, and ninjatrader started ok.

The problem seems to be gone.

Anyway, the idea is that I had a chart with some studies in there (lines, squares etc), and now I theoretically have to create everything from scratch.

How can I get back my studies without get old files back into workspaces folder?

        Hello mishhh,

The errors were thrown by one or more of the previous workspace files. Removing them resolved the issue. You can replace the workspace files your removed one-by-one to see which is the corrupt workspace.

Alternatively you can build the workspace(s) from scratch & then create a backup of all your settings to avoid this manual effort in the future. Here are the instructions:
        Creating a backup archive:
        1. Disconnect from all connectivity providers (if connected) and from within the Control Center window select the menu File > Utilities > Backup...
        2. The "Backup NinjaTrader" dialog window will appear
        3. Select the items you wish to back up
        4. Press the "Run Backup" button

        To restore a backup archive:
        1. From within the Control Center window select the menu File > Utilities > Restore...
        2. Select the backup archive to restore from the "Restore" file dialog window
        3. Press the "Open" button
