    zen-fire, spotty chart data recently

    Afternoon NT,

    I'm using Win7 and NT 7.0.1000.2

    Chart data from Zen-Fire/Mirus has been spotty lately
    1/12-14 doesn't show up
    1/16-19 doesn't show up
    1/23-24 doesn't show up

    Reload Historical Data is greyed out

    I've tried changing format from CME US Indexes ETH to 24/7, didn't help
    Tried deleting NT7/db folder, didn't help
    Tried resetting and repairing databases, didn't help

    Haven't tried reinstalling NT7, but... wanted to talk to you first.

    What do you think?

    Thank you for your post.

    The fact that the ability to Reload Historical Data is greyed out indicates that the issue is that NinjaTrader is not able access the historical data server and would likely explain why certain days are not available.

    Rather than uninstall NinjaTrader, I would recommend that you remove, repair and then recreate your connection to Zen-Fire and make sure that historical is enabled when recreating the connection, and then create a new workspace from the File-->Workspaces-->New Workspace to test this issue following the recreation of the connection.
    • Please go to the Tools menu--> select Account Connections--> highlight the connection--> click Remove
    • Please go to Tools-->Options-->Data to then Repair DB
    • Restart NinjaTrader
    • Please go to the Tools menu--> select Account Connections and recreate the account connection.

        Hi stevescott05,

        In that case can you please disable any anti-virus and firewall software as those can block access to the historical data server, and then please with those applications disabled see if the data loads as expected within NinjaTrader.

          shut off windows firewall, i do not use an antivirus on this comp, isn't used to access internet

          but i get the same results

              The same problem happened to me today with both Zen-Fire/AMP Futures and CQG/AMP Futures. After deinstallation, removing NT7 folder from My Documents and installing again, the problem still exists. DOM works while charts don't show up.

                Hello volodja,

                Can you please disconnect/re-connect to Zen-Fire and check if data is loaded in your charts. If not, please check the Control Center-->Log-tab if it lists an error regarding the historical data server.

                The connection to the historical data server can be using any of the 4 IP addresses below.

                64.202.118.132
                64.202.118.144
                64.202.118.179
                64.202.118.180

                And it will go through port 31654. I suggest to check if the IP addresses or port is interfered/blocked on your PC (firewall, anti-virus software) or internet connection setup (modem, router).

                  In the Log menu, I have a message in yellow saying "Unable to connect to NinjaTrader data server (64.202.118.179/31654): ...".

                  How do I know if an IP address is blocked on my PC if the only firewall I use is that of Windows 7?
                  Anyway, I didn't change anything. The connection worked properly last week.

                    Hi,

                    Do you know if windows installed some automatic updates? It could be that your firewall was reset during this.

                    Do you know if you installed anything else since the last time you were able to connect? A toolbar perhaps?

                      Not able to even connect the licensing module here today, let alone retrieve any names.

                      edit: Now authorized but unable to download the list. Something is spotty today. Nothing has been changed here (no updates).

                        Yes, an an update was made on Saturday last week.

                        So, I decided to restore the state of my OS to where it was 6 days ago via Windows Restore, when anything worked perfectly. After the restore, I started NT and got the same problem.

                              After rebooting my machine the module authorized but would not download again, After a few tries the list was downloaded and all is fine. NT7 R2 special edition used.
