    Can't load instrument into Strategy

    Hi. I am running Ninja7 in simulation mode. I am able to run strategies from the strategy tab and they seem to functioning properly. The one issue I am currently having is that I am unable to run the strategy on IWM or EFA. No matter how I try to select these instruments, the strategy just seems seems to ignore them and reload whichever instrument is in the drop down. I have these two instruments running in my market analyzer, no problem. I can load them up on my charts, I can back test them, no problem. But when I try to load them into a live strategy, it basically kicks them out.

    Thoughts? Help

    Thanks

    Hello Mannygags,

    Have you added these instruments to your default list so that they are easily selectable from the New Strategy interface or are you manually locating them?

    Are there any error messages noted in log tab of control center?

      Thanks for the quick response. I have tried adding them to an alternate instrument list that I had created, and that did not work. I just tried adding them to the default list and that did not work either. I have also tried to manually type them in, no luck.

      Any other possible suggestions?

          Not that I could tell.

          I went back to the instrument list and deleted all instruments from 'default' except for IWM and EFA. I tried to load the instrument list into the strategy and received the following error "Failed to execute DB job 'StrategyUpdateJob': Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'

          Does this sound like it is related?

          This caused quite the error in NT and it now needs to be shut down.

            Can you let us know the version of NinjaTrader you're using? Check with Help > About

            The error message is possibly related. It points to database corruption. Please follow these steps to rename your database so that NinjaTrader creates a new one. When you rename database, you lose trade executions, and saved atm strategy templates.

            To rename the DB:

            * Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
            * Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> DB--> NinjaTrader.SDF.
            * Right click on NinjaTrader.SDF and select "Rename."
            * Name it "OLDNinjaTrader.SDF."
            * Then restart the software.

              I am running NT 7.0.1000.2

              When you say historical data, does that include market replay data?

                No, historical data is no longer stored in the NinjaTrader 7 database. That disclaimer applied to NinjaTrader 6.5 database only.

                Market replay is stored in the db folder, but not this file.

                Please let us know how it works out once you rename the database.

                  Didn't seem to work. I just tried resetting and repairing the DB, no help. Would it make sense to delete from the instrument list and then try to reload?

                    Repair and reset are separate processes. Can you please confirm you renamed the database?

                    We're not familiar with issues running a strategy on specific instruments so it would be good to see how everything is setup with a remote assistance connection. We can set that up through the support email. If you're still having issues, best is to email [email protected] Attn: RyanM.

                        Are you still available for a remote session to check into your issues? Or were you able to resolve them already?

                        Please let us know either way - thanks.

                          I was able to resolve. Tried renaming the DB again and re-installed.

                          Thanks for your help.
