Indicator export fails because of duplicate methods

    NT 7.0.1000.2

I have a vendor assembly installed, which uses MAX and MIN.

When I want to export an indicator file via NinjaTrader, which also uses MAX and MIN, this is not possible, because NinjaTrader will not know whether to export the NinjaTrader method or the vendor assembly method.

Export is only possible, when vendor assembly has been uninstalled.

    Is there any other workaround?

Harry, if you are trying to export as an assembly you should always export from an installation of NT that has no assemblies installed. This prevents troubles. Other than that if you are just exporting source it should only try to include the system indicators.

I did not try to export an assembly!

I tried to export a simple indicator file. This was not possible because the indicator used the methods MAX and MIN, which were also used by the assembly.

So the assembly prevents me exporting simple indicators or strategies.

This means that every customer, who has installed an assembly that uses any of the NinjaTrader methods, can no more correctly export simple NinjaTrader indicators or strategies that use the same methods.

That shouldn't be a problem so I just tried it to see for sure. I imported one of my protected, compiled assemblies that uses a certain system indicator. I then exported another indicator that uses the same system indicator. Worked without a hitch.

Unfortunately does not work here. Have installed a protected assembly which uses system indicators MAX and MIN.

No export of any indicators possible, which use MAX or MIN.

The export fails, because NinjaTrader cannot decide on which MAX or MIN to choose. The one that was installed via the vendor assembly or the one that comes with NinjaTrader.

Harry, have you tried adding the MIN / MAX methods manually to the export files from the list of system indicators?

Thanks Bertrand, that was the point.

I am used to NinjaTrader adding those files automatically, so I forgot that there is an option to add them manually as well. It works without problems, when I add them manually. Thanks again for your help.

how does one add indicators manually to an assembly file? I try to export an assembly and it says it will export 20 files but the final zip only has 4 files and when I give the file to someone else they get error message that there are files missing.

semayoga, I've already replied in your other thread on the same question. Please check there and get back to us if you would still see issues.

                      Thanks,
