    Price wrong on chart

I switched from the CL March contract to April this morning and the chart is screwed.
Reloading historical data did not fix (in fact it simply moves the stairs to the right edge).

The final price is apparently correct but the previous chart is obviously not.

    NT 7.0.1000.2 (live) w/ Zen-fire data feed.
I always use ETH to see overnight & pre-market activity.

The problem did not appear on NT 6.5

BTW, these are range bars. The value of the range did not matter.

    Hello Lost Trader,

    Thank you for your note.

This is because the rollover date for the CL is not scheduled until 2/21/2011. Please go to Tools-->Instrument Manager-->Select CL within the Available master instrument list-->Edit-->Merge Policy-->Set to "DoNotMerge"-->Click Ok. Next please right mouse click within your chart and select "Reload all historical data".

      Same issue here.

Realize the rollover will not take place until 02/21 but observed that more contracts were being traded on the CL 04-11 Contract...that's usually when I make the change.

ChristopherJ...was this just a hiccup with Zen-Fire or did CQG have the same issue?

      Thanks for the correction instructions!

      ADDENDUM...

Just applied the "fix". While it corrected the earlier candle/bar it now produces the same bad Tick candle at this time.

      ...NEXT...?

      Thanks!

Christopher, thank you for the information. It did straighten out the chart for trading.
It also raises other questions. Of course, a trader will follow the volume which moves well before roll-over. I will get calls from my broker if I wait that long!

        How did 6.5 work ?

Would you please explain the four settings for the merge policy?
Why would a default be chosen that does this? There must be a reason.

        thank you!

NinjaTrader 6.5 the process of merging data had to be done manually.

If you would like to look at the CL 04-11 with back adjusted data from the previous contract you may if you like change the rollover date manually with the steps below:
          • Tools
          • Instrument Manager
          • Select CL
          • Edit
          • Definitions tab
          • Merge Policy
          • Set to "MergeBackAdjusted"
          • Misc tab
          • Scroll to the bottom and left mouse click on the ... box next to 40 contract moths defined
          • Select 04-11
          • Change the Rollover date to 2/17/2011
          • Click Ok
          • Right mouse click wiithin your chart and reload data

I have provided a link below to our Help Guide that goes over the different Merge Policies that are available.

NinjaTrader has been set by Default to rollover contracts based of the dates provided by the Exchange.
