Importing data

I am getting a blank chart after importing data.

I am importing a few years of 1 minute AUD/USD forex data.

I create a new currency symbol in the instrument manager, then import the file.

When I look at the chart (1 minute 15 days), its blank. ie no bars, just white background.

There are no errors in the log.

Here is a snippet of the data I am importing:

- what's the name of the text file you import?
- what's the exact name of NT instrument as you pull up a chart?

Text file is AUDA0.txt
The currency symbol name is AUDA0

I have tried AUDA.txt and currency symbol AUDA also (same prob)

Actually, I just noticed something.
I have created a currency symbol with matching name first.
After the import there is a new "stock" symbol with the same name, and it won't let me edit it to change its type to currency. It has a description of "On-the-fly created stock". I didnt create it, it must have been created by the import.

In your case: rename your import file to $AUDUSD.txt

Renaming the text file to $AUDUSD.txt worked.
I didnt actually want to import it into the $AUDUSD symbol because that has data from a live datafeed that I didnt want disturbed with a merge. Anyway, its done now, at least I can keep working.

Renaming the text file to $AUDA.txt still had the same problem.
Goes throught the import process without errors but when I look at the chart, it is blank.
Renaming the txt file has stopped the stock symbol being created on the fly during the import.
So there does appear to be some problem with non built in symbol names.

There will be no problem as you set up the custom AUDA symbol correctly, namely exactly like the preset AUDUSD.

Just checking JonesWooHoo. In the Misc tab you are mapping the AUDA instrument with AUDA and not AUDUSD correct?

Also I noticed your import file's data is from 2002. Could it be possible your chart isn't loaded out that far?

Thanks, I wasn't looking back far enough to see the data.
I was thinking 15 days back was 15 days back from the end of the data, but its actually 15 days back from the current time.
