You are able to get replay data from the NT server.

Hello Brooks,

If you refer to backtesting in the Strategy Analyzer you will need to have historical data. Unfortunately you cannot use Market Replay data in the Strategy Analyzer, which Jon mentions. You can use Market Replay data if you run strategies in real-time.

From a technical perspective, NinjaTrader writes directly to the underlying server technology vs going through an API layer. This results in an optimized interface between NinjaTrader and Kinetick when compared to NinjaTrader and some other data providers.

I haven't used NT in a while and never with Forex. I got a new PC with W7 and just downloaded and installed NT7. Can you walk me through bringing up a chart of EURUSD? It's fine if the quotes are from your server. I want to do some backtesting.

Hello Brooks,

Please note that you will need to have access to a supported data feed provider that provides the historical forex data you will use.

You can use the free Kinetick feed to receive historical forex daily data. The free Kinetick feed is listed at Control Center-->File-->Connect.

Unfortunately there is no free access to forex real-time and historical minute or tick data.

Please see the link below under 'Understanding the data provided by your connectivity provider' which will list all supported data feed providers and what data they support.

The matrix will list 'data feeds only' such as Kinetick and DTN IQFeed, but it lists broker technologies as well such as Zen-Fire and Trading Technologies. The broker technologies can only be used if you have an account at a supported broker partner that uses the broker technology in question. They will provide data in NinjaTrader and will allow you to trade your account at your broker. The 'data feeds only' will only provide data in NinjaTrader.
