Hello Erick,
Thank you for your post.
Symbol mapping is performed via the Misc tab when adding a new an instrument, this would be the mapping information provided by your data provider. You can also try just typing in the symbol itself.
- From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Instrument Manager
- Press the "New" button
- *Enter in instrument specific information and select the appropriate exchange (add Default exchange for equities in addition to the actual exchange)
- Fill in any relevant information under the "Misc" tab such as symbol mapping for your target connectivity provider
- Press the "OK" button
* If you wish to add an equity, this can be accomplished without following the steps above. Just open a chart (for example) and start typing in the symbol and a new instrument is automatically created.LowellSenior IT Manager

Could you explain what you mean when you write:
"Fill in any relevant information under the "Misc" tab such as symbol mapping for your target connectivity provider"
What is "symbol mapping."?
Specifically, I am trying to add @VX# from DTN/IQ. Thanks!

Hello tortoise08,
Thank you for your post.
Symbol Mapping is the use of specific symbol names that data feed providers use to call the data. Each data provider may use their own Symbol Mapping for an instrument.
The Symbol Mapping for the VX future in NinjaTrader for IQFeed is @VX.
Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.
