chart object has been removed since it is older than 20 days

    Ninja7 gives this LOG error:

"The following chart object has been removed since it is older than 20 days."

How can I avoid this ?

I like to have my annotations persistent (e.g on my monthly or weekly charts and on my 1440min charts)

    TY

    Hello makra081,

    Thank you for your post.

You may want to select the drawing objects that you want to persist, right-click & select ‘Lock’.

This lock feature makes the drawing objects immovable.

      NinjaTrader_Chip,

      Thank you for your reply.

I get the Log error message:

"The following chart object has been removed since it is older than 20 days."

even if I have locked the element as you described.

After reloading my workspace the elements are missing on my 1440M chart and the Log has above error message.

      TY

        Hi makra081,

Sorry for the confusion - the behavior you've described here is as we would expect. When drawing objects are applied to all charts of a certain instrument, those objects will only be plotted if less than 20 days old. This is required so as to save system resources.

With that said, the above applies only to instruments applied to all charts. If the drawing object is not globally linked, then it would not be removed.

          re

          NinjaTrader_Kyle,

this is not the behaviour I observe here:

          1 .
On my 1440 Minutes chart I apply the Text: "Usability Ninja 1"
ca 5 Bars ago. Under Text properties it says: "Attach to TF 06-1101440 Min"
          So it is NOT globally.

          2.
On my 1440 Minutes chart I apply the Text: "Usability Ninja 2"
ca 50 Bars ago. Under Text proberties it says: "Attach to TF 06-1101440 Min"
          So it is NOT globally.

          3.
I save Workspace. I close Workspace.

          4.
          I reload workspace: no text

          5.
          under Log tab:
"The following chart object has been removed since it is older than 20 days. Text (30.11.2010 22:15:00)"
"The following chart object has been removed since it is older than 20 days. Text (04.04.2011 22:15:00)"

            Hello makra081,

I spoke to Development about this and they let us know that as long as you view the object within a 20 days period it will remain – locked or not.

Moreover, if you do not actually view the object for 20 days it will be removed; locked or not.

            Hope this helps.

              Hello NinjaTrader_Chip,

              Your answer does not help.

As I described to you the text goes away immediately, not after 20 days of NOT viewing.

It seems as if your developing team doesn't understand the question or the problem.

Have you tried to reproduce the phenomena on your end ?

How can we go forward with that issue ?

              TY

                Hello makra081

What steps are you taking to save these chart objects & annotations?

This information will allow us to recreate the scenario & test on our end to try & understand what is taking place.

I have the same issue. The logic of deleting elements after 20 days is flawed.
I don't save workspace unless I make changes to it. If I have a chart that I did not save for 20 days the objects from the chart are deleted.
Please change/remove this feature as it is ridiculous. I have to open all my workspaces XML files and change the tag <LastSeen> manually.

                    Hello CycleArt,

                    Thank you for your post.

Can you please tell me what version of NinjaTrader you are using under Help --> About?

Also, can you please explain the steps you are taking to produce this issue so that I may reproduce it?

                    Thank you.

                      I have 7.0.1000.5 and 7.0.1000.8.
I have a chart with monthly bars. The chart was last time updated on 02/Dec/2011. When I opened it on 30/Dec/2011 all the drawings and notations were removed. I tested on both versions.
I had to edit workspace XML file manually to update <LastSeen> field so my drawings are shown again.
